Ultimaker S5 is a latest 3D Printer from Ultimaker, one of largest FDM 3D printer manufacturers in the world. Ultimaker S5 is a dual extruder 3D Printer designed for professionals, it has a large build area, has composite ready dual extruder and a decent build volume of 330 x 240 x 300 mm. Below are certain key features of Ultimaker S5 3D Printer.

A big build volume

The S5’s build volume of 330 x 240 x 300 mm is decent and will be good enough for most 3D Printing requirements.
Dual Extruders

Ultimaker S5’s extruder assembly houses two extruders. Each of these extruders can be fed with a different spool. The second extruder can also be used for water soluble filament.
Carriages Bridge the Top

The extruder assembly rests on two motorized carriages that enable its X- and Y-axis horizontal motion.
Filament Feeder

Above is S5’s filament feeder. When prompted during setup, a strand of filament is fed into the bottom of the feeder and pressure is applied until it is grabbed by a set of gears and pulled through a feed tube.
Filament Spools

Here’s a look at the S5’s spool holder with two filament spools in place.
Build Plate

Ultimaker S5 has removable build plate which is kept in place by 4 metal hooks.
Machine Back View

Above pic shows the back of S5 with grilles for fans, power-plug jack, an Ethernet port and port labeled “UMB Out” which is used to connect to future hardware add-ons. The white cable is plugged into a similar port and is used to supply NFC connectivity to a sport on the spool feed, so that S5 can identify the type and color of the filament in the company’s “smart” filament spools.
Touch Panel

Unlike the previous 3D Printers from Ultimaker that have dial to change the settings, S5 has a nice responsive touch screen.
Open Top

While the front of the S5 has a double door that can swing open or closed, the top is open-frame.
Front USB Port

An USB Type-A port is placed conveniently in the front of the printer. It fits a thumb drive, and one can print directly from them with the help of the touch panel.
Print Quality

Print quality is really good in S5 3D Printer. The S5 did particularly well in handling our geometric test object, as well as complex objects like the Apollo spacecraft shown here.
All in all, Ultimaker S5 is a great professional FDM 3D Printer that comes at an affordable price point. At THINKFAB, we offer Ultimaker S5 3D Printer at a high competitive price. Click here to request for quote.
